New Things...

Hello everyone! 

Long time no blog post...

I've had a funny few months, ups and downs, the usual in the land of Shannon. But if you were not aware I have created a brand new YouTube channel! Exciting stuff. 

I launched it a couple of weeks ago to talk all things Mental Health. From my journey to yours, the ins and outs, things you may not have known and things you know all too well. I wanted to bring the topic of mental health into the lives of people around me. I am surrounded by people who are very open to mental health, luckily! However, so many others are not and I am all for speaking up and talking about the issue. 

My first video was an introduction into the channel, what will be coming and what I have been through (in short) you can watch that below:

I am so so so so so excited for this new little path and it is something I have wanted to do FOREVER and it's taken a lot of guts to finally do it.

The Channel is 'Shannon Talks' and talking is what Shannon shall do!

While I'm here on the topic of new things, the most beautiful brand Old English Company have a new  Enamel Pin Collection here! So many cute little pins for all your pin needs...I particularly like to have a little pin on my pinafores - just adds a cute touch! 

To go with the new pins they are having a competition over on their website here to win a set of sweet pins - the winner is picked on the 30th May! 

I'm going to go and get myself some new pins to flaunt in my new youtube videos so I can be all cute and pin-ny...

One Direction - This Is Us

So, today I went to the cinema to see One Directions 3D movie 'This Is Us'. It was a film for fans of One Direction and a film for those who are not, but by the end of it you definitely would have a different perception of the boys.

The movie was part concert 3D footage and part documentary, both very enjoyable to watch. I laughed, smiled and cried my way through it (yes, there are emotional parts - when parents cry, I cry).

Now I thought I knew exactly what Harry, Louis, Liam, Niall and Zayn were like, I thought I knew everything about their personalities but even this made me learn even more about who they were, what they were like behind everything, the real them. We all see what the media shows us, the majority of fans see that in more depth, but this goes somewhat deeper. There was a part which showed Harry saying that he doesn't like the term 'famous' and for me that emphasised how normal this boy is, how he  hasn't changed at all because of what he's been thrown into. Then another thing about the film that made me really smile was how they all get along like brothers, they love each other and it's so nice to see and I never even doubted that before the film anyway but a lot of bands just get on with the job and don't bond but not these guys, they are each others rocks and they would be nothing without each other.

If you want to laugh, enjoy the music and just see a nice documentary of 5 lovely boys then go and watch it even if you detest everything they're about. 100% worth it.

Big Steps...

I once touched up on the subject in a piece of school work about how famous people can get through the power of YouTube. Since I can remember I've wanted to make a YouTube channel, unfortunately I've never had the confidence to do so, I'm hoping one day I will! ANYWAY, I've always watched YouTubers and admired them...they all are so funny and talented in their own ways. Even if their talent is just making people laugh.

Over the last couple of years there's been a boom in British YouTubers. The likes of Jack Harries (JacksGap) and his twin brother Finn, Marcus Butler (MarcusButlerTV), Alfie Deyes (PointlessBlogTV) and two best pals Louise (Sprinkleofglitter) and Zoe or Zoella as most know her (Zoella280390). They've all grown such a huge following, Zoe even reached a goal of 1 Million subscribers yesterday- madness.

I think it's amazing how easily people can get noticed nowadays, it's so good to make a platform like that for people. Everyone has an equal opportunity to make something of their lives, they just have to have a bit of wit and know what they're going to base their channel on.

YouTube is also a massive platform for aspiring singers, lets use an obvious example which is so typical of me to talk about - 5 Seconds of Summer. An Aussie band (NOT a boyband) who just started off on YouTube but are now supporting One Direction on a world tour. That is totally mental, the right person finds you on YouTube and you turn into a someone instead of just a 'nobody' immediately - although, they definitely weren't nobodies at all.

I haven't posted on here in a while due to lack of motivation, nothing taking my interest and just general problems in my silly head. But I will definitely try a lot more to post in the future, I've just had a few off months!
